A Little Something...

Rocky Horror themed piece for the Hail the Puritan evening at the Nottingham Contemporary last month - am yet to see the pictures of how it was styled (hopefully a feather boa and a top hat were involved somewhere... have to wait and see!)

Working on some more photoshoot bits and bobs at the mo, will post when they are completed.

Promotional Photoshoot Pieces.

These pieces pictured below are for a photoshoot promoting the website and career of stylist, curator and general creative girlie Sam Barker. I have collaborated with her a few times before on several photoshoots and exhibitions and like me she is an alumni of Nottingham Trent University. All of these particular pieces she asked me to embroider have text and images that are personal to her / promtional for her business. I loved this project as it was mainly text based and the photoshoot is intended to have a retro / fifties club theme. Am very much looking forward to seeing the images!

Back to Reality...

After a wonderfully escapist weekend away in beautiful Norfolk, it's unfortunately now time to get back to real life! I love a good beach hut, and this particular beach in Wells had some rather gorgeous examples that I have to share with you...

'Skin' Exhibition, 23rd Feb - 2nd March. Sam Scorer Gallery, Lincoln.

Photography, Textiles (embroidery), Conceptual Textiles, Fine Art and Make-up Styling from the following exhibitiors and models:

Tessa Acti (Nottingham Trent University). Samantha Barker (Nottingham Trent University). Leah Barr. Vanessa Haines. Elly Lucas.Tom Martin (Central St Martins). Rick Nunn. Sian Revill. Georgina Robinson. Juliet Richmond (Lincoln University). Rebecca Sampson (Loughborough University). Emily Saunders (Nottingham Trent University)

For me, the theme of this exhibition focuses on the notion of skin as a blank canvas. A fragile, perfect and pure surface ready for the embellishments and objects we adorn it with. These adornments are to portray our individuality, our personality and our taste. Our skin provides the perfect background to these additions. The beauty in the pieces I have created for this Exhibition is the background – the simplicity of it enhances the detail of the hand embroidery.

This exhibition will be running from Weds 23rd Feb - Weds 2nd March 2011.

Open Weekdays and Sunday 10am - 4pm and Saturday 10am - 5pm

Sam Scorer Gallery, Lincoln, 5 Drury Lane, Lincoln, LN1 3BN.

Sneak peek of some of the pieces I will be exhibiting... Hope you find yourself in Lincoln to have a look!

Amsterdam!

Such an inspiring city!!! Here are a couple of my favourite pics from my weekend away! I love the eclectic architecture and canals and beautiful shops, definately one of my favourite cities. We also had a little jaunt to Rotterdam - very different to Amserdam, completely industrial, modern and had an intersting bleakness to it. It was a very fleeting visit to Rotterdam - definately a city I need to explore further!
